BACTERIAL ENDOCARDITIS AND CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE (WITH REPORT OF TWO CASES)

Abstract
In the first case (bacterial endocarditis of a bicuspid aortic valve caused by Streptococcus viridans) there occurred an embolic occlusion of the circumflex branch of the left coronary artery with extensive myocardial infarction, and pericarditis with effusion. The second case presents the exceedingly rare circumstance of an acquired transient complete heart block in a patient with a patent inter-ventricular septum. An endocarditis due to Staphylococcus albus involved the margin of the septal defect.
