Abstract
This lecture highlights the multi-disciplinary nature of medical engineering. The author reviews various aspects in the field including artifical heart valves and total replacement synovial joints. He also considers the development of education and training and he explores the relationship between medical engineering and The Fellowship of Engineering. The author concludes that there is an immense amount of interest in the subject although more funding is needed for future development. Keywords
