Development of Invasive Tumors in the “Nude” Mouse After Injection of Cultured Human Melanoma Cells

Abstract
Cultured human melanoma cells injected into the thymus-deficient “nude” mouse induced invasive tumors, positively identified as human by karyotypic analysis. Cultured human and murine normal embryonic cells not only failed to take, but were shown histologically to have disappeared from the injection site 11–32 days after inoculation.
