Acne Vulgaris

Abstract
• Although the basic cause of acne vulgaris remains unknown, considerable data that concern its pathogenesis and that have been accumulated in recent years allow a rational and therapeutically successful approach to the management of this disorder. To date, there is no single treatment for acne. Therapy must be individualized, with appropriate variations and modifications as the degree or severity of this disorder fluctuates. Today, this goal can be achieved by proper selection of available medications, coupled with the cooperation of the patient, and the knowledge, continued interest, and enthusiasm of the physician and his staff.
