Abstract
The contents of this review include sperm production, maturation and senility, the number of sperm required for fertilization, fertilizing capacity of spermatozoa in relation to motility and in relation to morphology, transportation of sperm, their physiology in the female tract and fertilizing capacity therein; follicular growth, maturation of ova, ovulation, transportation and fertilizability of ova; cumulus cells, dispersal of cumulus cells and hyaluronidase, penetration of spermatozoa; site of fertilization, cytology of fertilization, fertilization in vitro, fate of unfertilized ova, activation and parthenogenesis, activity of ova, fate of sperm tail, cleavage of ova.Keywords
