Abstract
Generations of ornithologists have used the wing length as a standard linear measurement for the discrimination of sex geographical variation, etc.—but how reliable a parameter is it? This paper considers some of the problems brought to light by remeasuring a sample of Knots at different ages and at different times after the annual moult. Keywords
