Abstract
A brief account of the morph. of the spore forms of these 2 monotypic genera of rusts, based upon a study of authentic specimens, is presented. In S. corticioides the teliospores are 2-celled, produced in succession as in the members of the Pucciniosirae. They are pushed apart as they are formed without any compact arrangement, resulting in the devpt. of telial crusts up to 10 cm. diam. In Anthomycetella the telia are superstomal surrounded by a basket of paraphyses. The telial heads are borne on strands of hyphae or pedicels. The teliospores are formed in umbellate clusters on 3-4 sporogenous basal cells. The entire telial head is surrounded by a membranous envelope. There is apparently one tier of spores, the lower one being of the nature of sporogenous basal cells.
