CARDIAC PAIN WITH RECOVERY OF THE T WAVE

Abstract
Many hypertensives may have attacks of pain not associated with the development of an injury current in the ecg. The T waves return to normal and stay normal. The immediate picture is more often that of an anterior wall lesion. When the pain comes on during rest and lasts at least 1/2 hr. there is apt to be ecg. change. A negative ecg. does not rule out cardiac pain. Arterial spasm is assumed to be the cause. This is said to result in recovery if it is minimal and of short duration, will still be recoverable if of greater degree but not too long persisting, and will result in tissue death with fibrous replacement only if maximal and persistent over a longer period of time.
