Abstract
The spontaneous magnetostriction of iron-silicon alloys can be adequately described by two constants and . For ordered alloys goes through zero at about 11 atomic percent silicon, at about 9 atomic percent silicon. In disordered alloys, in the composition range around 10 percent silicon, is somewhat larger than for the ordered alloys.
