Abstract
Major and minor criteria are determined for sonographic diagnosis of acute and chronic cholecystitis. A prospective study of 113 cases was performed on patients with suspected acute cholecystitis who were evaluated by cholesonography and 99mTc-HIDA ([N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)carbamoglymethyl] iminodiacetic acid) cholescintigraphy. Data support the use of sonography as the initial imaging procedure for the patient with suspected acute cholecystitis. 99mTc-HIDA is useful in those cases without stones which exhibit minor criteria for gallbladder abnormality. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
