Abstract
Frequency conversion by parametric processes in stimulated Raman scattering is analyzed in the limit where the Raman shift is much smaller than the laser frequency. An exact solution is obtained which shows that the conversion efficiency to the higher orders may be large. The conditions for obtaining high efficiency are discussed. Keywords
