The reinforcement of cooperation between children.

Abstract
20 children, 7 to 12 years of age, were formed into 10 cooperative teams of 2 children, matched as to age and sex. The 2 children were required to manipulate an apparatus designed so that the partners were required to make similar responses at the same time to receive a Jelly bean as reinforcement. The results indicate that operant conditioning techniques can be used to develop, maintain and eliminate cooperation between children without the use of specific instructions concerning cooperation.
