Abstract
The Androy volcanic massif of southernmost Madagascar is more complicated structurally than hitherto believed. Instead of a single basaltic unit covered by a single rhyolitic unit, several successivephases of alternating acid and basic extrusions are recognized. The volcanic complex is cradle-shaped, with dips of more than 10-20 degrees at the margins leading to the formation of cuestas.
