Abstract
Partial hepatectomies were performed on rats bearing subcutaneously implanted Hepatoma 5123-C. The effects of this surgery on the in vivo incorporation of C14 from formate-C14 into a number of soluble compounds and purines of RNA and of DNA of livers and hepatomas were determined. A transient stimulation of synthesis of RNA and of DNA occurred in the hepatoma, and the time of observed maximum stimulation coincided with or slightly followed the time of maximum rate of synthesis of nucleic acids in the regenerating liver. Partial hepatectomy did not perceptibly alter the rate of growth of the hepatomas. Keywords
