Abstract
General expressions for the surface tension and bulk pressure are derived for a semiclassical polyatomic fluid. The Fowler–Kirkwood–Buff approximation is used to reduce the general surface tension formula to a simple form and to show that the dipole–dipole interactions account for about half of the surface tension of low vapor pressure water. Keywords
