A Micro-Method for the Evaluation of PHA-Responsive T Cells in Callithrix jacchus and Macaca fascicularis

Abstract
A simple whole blood micro-method is described for assessing PHA responsiveness in the common marmoset (Callithrix jacchus) and the cynomolgus monkey (Macaca fascicularis). The method allows lymphocyte transformation to be carried out with as little as 5-10 pi of blood per culture, although 20 pi is optimal. Both species gave maximal responses on day 4, but each has its own characteristic response to PHA, the cultures of marmoset blood requiring a much higher concentration.
