Abstract
This paper describes the development, validation and use of a non-linear dynamic model developed for the study of automatic generation control and economic dispatch structures within a large multi-company interconnected electric power system. The model constitutes a unique tool for the realistic evaluation of the dynamic performance of newly developed system control and dispatch strategies. The improvements obtainable with these strategies and the determination of sufficient response reserves are demonstrated. Keywords
