Abstract
An inexpensive apparatus for total collection of urine from steers was constructed from cotton belting, Lexan,® Velcro, ® an obstetrical sleeve, and surgical tubing. When attached, it enclosed a 13 by 18-cm oval area over the sheath and penis and was detachable for repeated use. It allowed reliable total collection of urine from steers without surgical in- tervention. Applications include urine collections during short radioisotope experiments and longer metabolic studies. Keywords
