Abstract
Rat parotid saliva was collected in vivo without surgically exposing the salivary duct; much in the same manner as the Carlson-Crittenden apparatus for humans. Animals were anesthetized with methoxyflurane. A collecting tube with a friction fit cuff was attached, stabilized and centered over Stensen''s Duct by means of methyl-2-cyanoaerylate (Eastman "910" adhesive). Suction was maintained on the duct and tube by a dropping pipet rubber bulb fitted to a blunt 15 gauge needle. The animal was stimulated with pilocarpine. The needed saliva was confined within the collecting tube by clamping with mosquito nemos tats. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
