Abstract
In a search for new types of polymer architecture, we have examined systems where one couples rigid‐rod monomers with multifunctional tie‐point monomers. High surface area (400–1000 m2/g) polymeric carbinols result from reaction of 4,4′‐dilithiobiphenyl, as well as other multi‐lithiated aromatic compounds with dimethyl carbonate. Keywords
