Abstract
SUMMARY: The negative staining technique was used to study the morphology of actinophage Φ17 which infects Streptomyces chrysomallus strain s17. It was found that the particle does not possess the characteristic tail of the bacteriophages, and that its capsid is built of distinct subunits.
