Abstract
Potential and current distributions are calculated for a partially passivated rotating disk electrode. A discontinuous local polarization relation is used to reflect the change from the active to the passive state. Results of the model yield a z‐shaped polarization curve similar to curves measured experimentally by Epelboin et al. The limiting cases of mass transfer control and ohmic control are treated. Comparison of previous experimental results with the model is in harmony with the conclusion that the electrode is mass transfer controlled in the transition region. Keywords
