Abstract
Biweekly counts of the pear psylla, Psylla pyricola Förster, and its natural enemies were made in 2 California localities (San Jose and Lafayette) throughout the growing season of 1964. Predators, chiefly Anthocoris antevolens White and Hemerobius angustus (Banks), kept psylla populations at relatively low levels at San Jose. At Lafayette, however, the predator populations remained low and psylla populations reached very high levels. Parasitism was rare at San Jose but reached a high level for a brief period at Lafayette. Trials were conducted at San Jose to evaluate Guthion®, O,O-dimethyl S-(4-oxo-1,2,3-benzotriazin-3 (4H) -ylmethyl) phosphorodithioate, at rates of 1/2 and 1/4 normal dosage. The reduced Guthion dosages provided good codling moth control and were less harmful to the psylla predators than the full Guthion application. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
