Abstract
In compounding rubber, mercaptobenzothiazole (Cap-tax) and tetramethylthiuram disulfide (Tuads) are used as accelerators. These substances are also known to be good fungicides, but when mixed with zinc oxide which is also present in the rubber, Captax becomes ineffective as a fungicide, whereas Tuads does not. Tuads is therefore recommended as accelerator in rubber which will be in water for any period of time. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
