Quantitation of Amanitins in Galerina autumnalis

Abstract
Amanitins, the toxins present in some mushroom species, were quantitatively determined by TLC in samples of Galerina and Amanita species. In G. autumnalis .alpha.-amanitin was found in greatest quantity; .beta.-amanitin was the only other form present. Amanitin concentration was greater in mature carpophores than developing ones. The use of amanitin analysis in taxonomy is discussed.
