THE DECAYΣ±→Λe±ν

We have observed 46 examples of the decay ${\Sigma }^{-}\to \Lambda e^{-}\nu$ and six of the decay ${\Sigma }^{+}\to \Lambda e^{+}\nu$. The branching ratios are, respectively, (0.52±0.09)×${10}^{-4\mathrm{}}$ and (0.16±0.07)×${10}^{-4\mathrm{}}$. A study of the internal variables distribution yields $\frac{G_V}{G_A}=-0.7\mathrm{}\pm 0.4$ for the combined sample of ${\Sigma }^{\pm }\to \Lambda e^{\pm }\nu$.
