Abstract
A procedure was devised by which perosis can be produced uniformly in the chick, even when manganese is supplied in abundance. This type of perosis is due to the absence of a specific organic nutrient. Choline is such a nutrient, but it was not shown that it is the only one. Under the procedure followed the supply of calcium, phosphorus, manganese, iron, aluminum, or zinc was not responsible for either the incidence or degree of perosis. The long bones of perotic chicks are abnormally short and thick. Keywords
