Abstract
As a preventive measure against false interpretations of the streakline pattern in unsteady flows, streaklines calculated for an isolated vortex and the infinite Kármán vortex street are presented, which appear to create a visual impression of apparent growth and flow reversal, while in reality they do not exist.Keywords
