Lattice Dynamics of Potassium Azide. A Group-Theoretical Analysis

Abstract
The symmetry properties of normal modes of lattice vibrations of the lattice of potassium azide are investigated using the formalism of Maradudin and Vosko. Using a computer code, the symmetry vectors at several points of the Brillouin zone are determined. The interrelations between elements of the dynamical matrix corresponding to these points have also been obtained from the same code. This information has helped in developing a force model to analyze experimental results of neutron scattering studies made recently at this laboratory.
