Multiple carbon–carbon bond cleavage on a heptaosmium cluster: synthesis and molecular structure of [Os7(CO)153-CPh)4]

Abstract
The heptaosmium cluster [H2Os7(CO)20] reacts with Ph2C2 to yield the organometallic cluster [Os7(CO)153-CPh)4], which has been shown by X-ray crystallographic analysis to possess an unprecedented metal core geometry based on a bicapped square pyramidal arrangement of osmium atoms.
