On the Propagation of Alfvén Waves in Certain Rotational Symmetric Magnetic Fields*

Abstract
The general results of previous work 1, 2 are applied to the propagation of ALFVÉN waves in certain rotational symmetric magnetic fields. It is shown that for finite field strength no bound states of such waves exist. The transmission and reflection coefficients are calculated for a certain class of simple fields. In some special cases the problem can be solved rigorously, in other cases it is convenient to apply BORN approximation.
