Abstract
A small but significant decrease in the total Cr51 erythrocyte life was observed in four subjects kept on a tocopherol-depletion diet from seventy-two to seventy-six months, as compared with data from six subjects on adequate diets. Subjects on a tocopherol-depletion diet who received supplements of 300 mg. tocopherol per day showed a small increase in reticulocyte count which was statistically significant in three of the subjects. No increase was seen in any of the subjects on adequate diets in response to similar doses of tocopherol. Keywords
