Abstract
The effects of various levels of stimulation on the activity of normal and prefrontal-lobectomized monkeys were investigated. The conditions of darkness, illumination, noise, and noise and illumination together had differing effects on activity levels with the operated Ss more active under all conditions. A neurophysiological explanation of these findings is discussed. Keywords
