Abstract
The local densities of states on (110) and (100) facets of Mo and W are studied in the tight-binding approximation, including the spin-orbit coupling term, and using the moment method and the continued fraction technique. Surface states are found on the (100) plane in agreement with experiments. They are shown not to be produced especially by spin-orbit coupling. Keywords
