Abstract
The stained nuclei of G. tetragena, especially those in the early stages of division, exhibited structures interpreted as cell plates. The appearance of the 1st plate was, in many cases, followed immediately by the appearance of plates of the 2d division, usually at right angles to the 1st plate. The manner of appearance and development was much like that in higher plants. Crystal violet as a nuclear stain for G. tetragena and other bacteria was used.
