Abstract
The rates of aquation and temperature coefficients of a series of homoisomeric cations ω-[CoX en dien]2+ (X = Cl, Br, I) together with those of the isomer ε-[CoCl en dien]2+ and the analogous cation [CoCl ibn cytam]2+ are recorded. A consideration of the factors determining the rates of these reactions leads to the conclusion that there is an element of bond making in the transition state.
