The Effects of Introducing a Heterlosexual Living Space

Abstract
This paper reports on the integration of an all-male floor and all-female floor in a geriatric institution for the purpose of providing a healthier climate for the 62 elderly residents involved. Reactions of the residents to the change were assessed, and the effects evaluated and measured. Initial resistance to the change gave way to group acceptance and a more cheerful floor life. Quantitative findings suggested significant improvements in the social behavior of the males.
