Abstract
Historically "permanent corpora lutea" produced in mice from "persistent corpora lutea" of early lactation by X-irradiation destruction of Graafian follicles did not affect the duration of lactation or delay the return of oestrus. Irradiation usually terminated early pregnancy without the formation of "persistent corpora lutea," and oestrus soon appeared. It is concluded from the series of papers that alternating maturation of Graafian follicles and corpora lutea is not essential for the production of cyclic oestrous changes, and the periodicity of oestrus is not herefore determined by the periodic follicular maturation. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
