Abstract
Trematopsidae Case, and the genus Trematops Wil., are at present represented by 2 specimens, the type, T. milleri Wil., Permian of Texas, and T. thomasi* (p. 467), Permian of Oklahoma. The remains of the latter consist of the anterior part of a skull and the attached lower jaws. The genus as described by Williston was characterized by an unpaired median opening that pierced the skull near its anterior margin. The Oklahoma specimen indicates that this opening is not an important characteristic, for in this skull there is no trace of the opening save on the palate surface. The para-sphenoid, not observed in the Texas specimen, is represented in the present skull by a cross section at the level of the anterior end of the frontals. The remarkably well preserved "turbinated" bones are striking.
