Abstract
A high-resolution X-ray powder diffraction camera was used in the identification and crystallography of compounds in dental amalgam. The study included determination of the effects of the mercury-alloy ratio and of aging in clinical restorations. In all instances, γ silver-tin, y silver-mercury, and γ tin-mercury were found. Line positions, relative intensities, and calculated lattice parameters were tabulated for each compound. Keywords
