Wavelength sensed mode control of semiconductor lasers

Abstract

A wavelength detector suitable for use with semiconductor laser packages has provided control of laser emission wavelengths to better than 0.1 Å. Special features of the detector have also enabled mode hopping, gain profile shift and end of single-mode lifetimes to be observed.
