Abstract
Canonical correlational analyses of the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16 PF) and a relatively scale-independent life history inventory yielded three interpretable roots for 186 females and four roots for 155 males. Subjects were incoming high school juniors and seniors attending an intense eight-week summer enrichment program for the artistically and academically talented. Coefficients, all of which were significant at the.01 level, ranged from.56 to.78 for females and.57 to.77 for males. The resulting relationships made sense logically and psychologically and found support in the gifted child literature. Keywords
