Abstract
The application of the methods and results of Townsend and his associates shows that a powerful radio emitter is capable of appreciably modifying the collision frequency of electrons with the molecules in the ionosphere. In this way are explained the observations of Tellegen, in which the powerful Luxembourg station interfered with the signals received in Holland from Beromünster in Switzerland. Some observable consequences of the theory are predicted. It is also shown that a short undamped pulse, comparable in intensity with an atmospheric, is able to produce a notable increase in the ionization of the ionosphere.Keywords
