Abstract
Experiments to test the relative efficiency of ferrous and ferric iron at limited intakes in inducing growth, hemoglobin regeneration and storage of iron in the liver in the anemic rat, on a milk diet and on a lactose-free solid diet, are described. The two forms of iron were found to be equally effective for these purposes on both types of diet, though the iron was much better utilized on the milk than on the solid diet at similar levels of intake.
