Abstract
Predictions of the eikonalized strong-absorption model for the small-angle excitation of isovector giant-resonance states, as well as for analog states, are given for pion-nuclear single-charge-exchange reactions. Spin-flip excitations are treated, particularly in connection with the recent observation of the giant dipole resonance in (,) on . The results trivially generalize to excitation of isoscalar resonances.
