Abstract
The behavior of the nuclear magnetization has been examined for the transient region immediately following saturation of the nuclear spin system in the case in which the nuclear relaxation is limited by spin diffusion to paramagnetic impurities. Relaxation effects in the absence of diffusion and the presence of rapid diffusion are discussed. An experiment is reported which substantiates the calculations for the case of diffusion-limited relaxation and, in addition, allows a determination of the correlation time of the magnetic moment of the paramagnetic ion and the coefficient of nuclear spin diffusion. Keywords
