Implementation of dual parallel modulation in lithium niobate

Abstract

For broadband video transmission over fiber, high power linear signal transmission is desirable. Externally modulated diodepumped solid state lasers can provide high power, but linearization is required. We have implemented an approach recently analyzed by Korotky et al.¹ A system performance evaluation of this dual parallel modulator approach has been submitted elsewhere.² In this paper we focus our attention on nonideal device effects including electrical crosstalk, acoustic effects, and optical multipath interference.
