Abstract
The absorption spectra of the negative ions of chlorine and bromine have been observed in shock-heated vapors of CsCl and CsBr, respectively. The photodetachment cross sections of and have been measured from their threshold values down to 2000 ÅA. The results are found to be in good agreement with the calculated values of Robinson and Geltman.
