Abstract
Single crystals of beryllium, compressed along the c axis, above 400 °C, undergo a deformation which can be ascribed to the climb of c dislocation loops possibly created by Bardeen–Herring sources. Observation of twins have given evidence supporting the theory of twinning by dislocations. Also, numerous stacking faults have been found in twins, resulting from the condensation of vacancies created during twinning. Keywords
