Absolute calibration of the antiproton detection efficiency for BESS below 1 GeV
Abstract
An accelerator beam experiment was performed using a low-energy antiproton beam to measure the antiproton detection efficiency of the BESS detector. Measured and calculated efficiencies derived from the BESS Monte Carlo simulation based on GEANT/GHEISHA showed good agreement. With the detailed verification of the BESS simulation, results demonstrate that the relative systematic error of detection efficiency derived from the BESS simulation is within 5 %, being previously estimated as 15 % which was the dominant uncertainty for measurements of cosmic-ray antiproton flux. Keywords
